Picture Lady Goes Gator Hunting : I've experienced a lot of things in my life and I must say that gator hunting on Lake Okeechobee in FL is one of the most exciting I've done. The weather was beautiful and as we traveled in the boat to get to our spot to begin hunting after dark, the flocks of cattle egrets, a few great blue heron, an ahninga were flying back to their rookeries. Watching this as the sun was setting was just awesome! The people I was with were so nice and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. While trying to get a gator, we didn't say a word and I really got in tune with the quiet on the water except for an occasional honk of a great blue heron, the soulful hoot of an owl, the plopping sound of a fish splashing and gators moving from shore into the water. At some of the places we visited, the shoreline was lined with hundreds of large white flowers. Gator hunting makes for a long night and you can't just put the bait in the water and get the big one. You have to work at it long and hard. I was tired the next day, but it was the best kind of tired ever! I can hardly wait until next time...

11-ft. 4-in. Gator August 17, 2007 : Boyd Neal of Nedo, KY, along with his son and friends stayed in one of the beautiful cabins at Everglades Adventures RV & Sailing Resort, Pahokee, FL. On Thursday night, August 16, 2007, they cruised just off the shore of the resort in Lake Okeechobee and bagged the first alligator taken by someone at Everglades Aventures for the 2007 FL Gator Hunting Season. This 11-ft. 4-in. beauty weighed in around 800 lbs. In photo #7, the area between the shore and the small island just to the left of where Boyd's son is standing is where the big guy was caught. Congratulations, guys, great job. I'm looking forward to seeing you next season. I'll be rooting for you to bag another biggie!

8-ft. 4-in. Gator August 29, 2007 : Stan Pouillon & Robert Brantley bagged this beauty late Wednesday night, August 29, 2007, the 3rd weekend of the Florida alligator hunting season. They are both seasoned hunters, not just for gators, but waterfowl, bear, deer, elk, moose & antelope. Check out their website links on my main page under Hunting

Nuisance Gator : Everglades Adventures RV & Sailing Resort on Lake Okeechobee in Florida. This 10-ft. bull gator walked up the boat ramp, strolled through the dirt parking lot (under construction) approximately 1/4-mile to a puddle of water where he was spotted moving forward. A trapper was called to haul him away. If he crawled up the boat ramp once, he'd crawl up again. It was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Please note there has never been a case like this in the history of this resort.

Alligators of Big Cypress & Everglades National Park : The first four photographs in this gallery are of a momma alligator and her babies sunning themselves at the Shark Valley section of Everglades National Park. At no time did I approach these creatures, nor did I feed them. Doing so would cause them to lose their fear of humans, and possibly causing them to be trapped and killed. The only time I get close to these creatures is when I am hunting them with seasoned, cautious and safety-conscious professionals.

Crocodiles of Everglades National Park : Both photos were taken at the Flamingo portion of Everglades National Park. If you look closely at #264 you will notice that this croc has no teeth. The rangers here have nicknamed him "Gummy" for just that reason. He is almost blind too. He comes up to this spot each day and loves to be sprayed with the hose. Just remember...let the rangers do their thing and do not stand close or approach these creatures. They are wild. Don't ever feed them, as they will lose their fear of humans. It could sign their death warrant. They are there for us to admire and photograph.
